Totally missed this review! Thank you Pete Pardo and Sea of Tranquility!

John Tout, RIP

From the Renaissance Facebook page,
"John Tout passed away this Friday, May 1st at 4.30pm from lung failure at The Royal Free Hospital, London, England. He was an amazing musician, highly contributing to the unique sound of the band from 1970 - 1980. He was the quiet (but funny) one in the band, always very caring towards the fans and good friend to Annie Haslam, Terence Sullivan, Jon Camp and Michael Dunford. He will always be in our hearts and music! Please share your thoughts and photos of John."

YES: PROGENY – Live from Seventy-Two

Yes are about to release a box set of seven live shows from their Fall 1972 US Tour, with a not so newly anointed Alan White on drums. The tapes are purportedly the source tapes for some of the 1973 Yessongs triple album and having been restored completely in the analog realm. The dates of the taps are as follows, with the same set list each night. A 2CD or 2LP sampler will also be released, and that's what I'll be in for.

Recording Dates:
31 Oct 1972: Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Esoteric to release unreleased 2nd Fields album

"Esoteric Recordings are pleased to issue the first ever release of the legendary 1972 “lost” second album self by Fields. Following the album’s release the band’s line-up changed with the departure of ALAN BARRY and the arrival of Frank Farrell from Supertramp. This line-up recorded a follow-up album in 1972 that was perplexingly shelved by CBS Records and remained consigned to the vaults for over forty years.

New Brainticket album, Past Present & Future

Having reappeared after decades on the wonderful Space Rock Invasion tour in 2011, Joel Vandroogenbroeck has now teamed up with the Cleopatra/Purple Pyramid house band for a new Brainticket album, Past Present & Future:
"BT founder and leader Joel Vandroogenbroeck brought on board an exceptionally talented group of musicians to help bring his vision to life including UK Subs guitarist Nicky Garratt, Jürgen Engler of Die Kurpps, Jason Willer & Kephera Moon from Nik Turner’s band, and others!"

Daevid Allen, an obituary

Oh shit...
Sorry for that. Anger, disbelief, sadness, a rush of emotions. Of course, every train eventually pulls into the station one last time, and my thoughts are for those closest to him, and to his bravery.
I can't think of many (any?) from Daevid Allen's generation that have influenced so many, not just musically, but on that oh so slippery slope that I'll call “the spiritual level”. Perhaps that's why we all take the news so personal? I mean there's so many of us, and only one of him. Queue up “Zion my T-shirt” from the new album...
